Agriculture & Food

About 80% of Ethiopia’s population of over 100 million live in rural areas. Agriculture is the dominant sector in the economy, accounting for 35% of Gross Domestic Product (GDP), 65% of employment, and over 80% of the country’s export values.

Animal Husbandry

Animal Husbandry is a pillar of the global food system and a contributor to poverty reduction, food security and agricultural development. It contributes 40% of the global value of agricultural output and supports the livelihoods and food and nutrition security of almost 1.3 billion people (World Bank, 2019)

Aquaculture

Over 70% of the fishes consumed in Ethiopia are harvested from lakes such as Tana, Ziway, Abaya, Chamo, and Hawassa. The rest are from artificial lakes like Finchaa. Lakes at the Great Rift Valley and Tana Lake are where 80 percent of the Fish comes from, while dams and rivers make up 14 and 6 percent, respectively.

Health care

Ethiopia is currently experiencing demographic and epidemiologic shift. There is triple disease burden: communicable disease, non-communicable disease and injuries. While communicable diseases are on the decline, non-communicable diseases are projected to rise in the next 14 years.

Printplastpack

Because of the enormous population growth and high sustainable investments, Ethiopia is the 2nd largest importer of printing machinery and soon to become the largest importer of plastics and packaging technology in East and Central Africa.

Ethiopia’s rapid progress in the construction and real estate sector besides expansion urbanization has witnessed the launch of numerous commercial, residential, conference & tourism projects, thus creating a huge demand for interior & furnishing input, technology and solutions.

Ethiopia, widely acknowledged as the birthplace of coffee. Coffee is important to the economy of Ethiopia, around 60% of foreign income comes from coffee, with an estimated 15 million of the population relying on some aspect of coffee production for their livelihood.
